When I started my new position 2 years ago, I realized that the school would never be able to afford a catalog. With the help of the listserv I belong to and Leora Kemp, and one of her posts, I found out about 'Library Thing'. I amazed myself with the ease of use of this web site. I had new confidence, and better than that, I did not have to beg my boss for an electronic catalog. God forbid!! Money is so tight with us. We have over 70 students, but that is K-12!!.
Therefore, the more economically I run this small library, the better. This new tool of Web 2.0 has allowed me to do just that. I will still take a hand inventory, and assess fines. I do that the old-fashioned way until I discover how well the 'Library Thing' scanner really works. I need to know if anyone else "out there" is utilizing this tool as their main catalog.
